Butterscotch Syrup

Do you remember those little golden yellow candy sat in the small glass tray somewhere at your grandma’s house when you were little? I sure do! I love those little butterscotch candies. I would take handfuls and slowly suckle on them throughout the day while I hung out at my grandparents’ house. When you were done with the one candy, all that was left in your mouth with something much like Butterscotch Syrup. Mmm…

Where do grandma’s even get those little candies? I would really like to know because I don’t think I’ve ever seen the little strawberry candies that are wrapped in red and green for oil paper. Please tell me that you know what those are.

Isn’t it weird that so many grandmas across the country—and maybe even the world— by these candies and have them stocked up a little glass bowls throughout their house for people to grab? I am sure you can relate. Almost everybody can. I think it’s super weird but super cool because it relates people to each other. Super relatable.

But… I still don’t know where they buy them at. Where they do that at? Seriously. I need to know for the record.

I am positive now that that’s a very bad habit to have built up but I have fond memories of those days. There are childhood memories that even eating disorders can’t take away from you. I know better now. Yet, still I appreciate those sweet times that relate me to others in a different way.

As soon as I tried raw honey made from neem flowers, I knew I had found the perfect ingredients to make Butterscotch Syrup. Thank you, Trader Joe’s, for always coming through for me and my crazy ideas. I have a few jars of this in our pantry now—just in case they have one of those days of drought. They have those sometimes and it kind of bothers me but I understand why they run out of my favorite products because it’s obviously someone else’s favorite product, too. Duh! It makes perfect sense to me that someone else in the world would want to have sweet, butterscotch honey stocked in their pantry because I definitely do.

Butterscotch Syrup

Now that you know it only takes a little bit of this a little bit of water and honey to make a Butterscotch Syrup that is to die for, I can practically bet that you would be running out to Trader Joe’s as soon as possible to make this at home.

You can use the whole jar of honey or you can use just a bit, it’s totally up to you. You also don’t have to go to Trader Joe’s because you can use any bottle of your favorite honey. I just highly recommended to get the exact butterscotch candy flavor I was looking for in our perfect Butterscotch Syrup.

I like to make the whole thing if I have a big breakfast gathering, but, if it’s just for my wife and I, I’d much rather just make a quarter cup of it to share. And, before you start that we drink Butterscotch Syrup straight out of the glass—I almost wish I would—we don’t. We like to drizzle it over pancakes or waffles. You can also pour a little on cake or pie or muffins or cupcakes or whatever your little heart desires.

Like I said before, it’s basically up to you. We can already see you can’t stop drooling while reading this post so just go ahead and make a batch. Don’t waste your precious time, even if it means you won’t stick around here one of my little stories.

XO
