Yas, yas, yas queens! Pot of Gold Centerpieces are here to stay and brighten your day. Remember my the post last week about the spray painted shamrock coins? My wife and I took it to a new level.
Last week, I made some Doubloon Table Scatter to pop off the St. Patrick’s Day season. Of course, I made those for the novice and wind and promised I had something else coming up my sleeve with a batch of doubloons. This simple DIY can brighten up the room the old luck of the Irish style with just a touch of spray paint on some dull shamrock play coins.
With a leftover three pack of those little white tin pails I used for the succulent wedding favors, I went out my handy can of chalkboard spray paint and went to town. I love the matte finish that the chalkboard paint leaves behind. It made for the perfect Pot of Gold Centerpieces.
Once our little pots of gold were all dried up, I stuffed them with moss that I also had leftover from the Succulent Terrarium Wedding Centerpieces (coming soon to the blog)—picked up at the dollar store, of course. I packed in five copper doubloons and five golden doubloons in each little pot.
You can place these on your mantle as an addition to your festive décor. Maybe even line up your Pot of Gold Centerpieces on a green table runner on your dining room table. The best of them all: use chalk to write the name of each guest on a pot of gold and set them as name place cards.

- Doubloon Table Scatter*
- Cardboard box
- 1 (3-ct) pkg tin pails
- Spray paint, chalkboard
- Moss
- Make a pack of our Doubloon Table Scatter.
- Buy tin pails at Dollar Tree.
- Place pails upside down. Spray with chalkboard paint at all angles. Allow to dry for 45 minutes.
- If needed, paint an extra coat and allow to dry.
- Fill pail with moss. Top with a mix of gold and copper Doubloon Table Scatter, 10 coins each. Place on your mantle décor or on your dining table.
